Week of May 2 – Emmett and Cascade Ranger Districts Plan Prescribed Burns

Weather and conditions permitting, on Tuesday, May 3rd, the Emmett Ranger District plans to ignite approximately 2,000 acres in the Rocky Canyon Project area. The burn is an aerial ignition and located approximately 5 air miles north of Crouch up the Middle Fork of the Payette River. Ignition will start around 11:00 a.m. or when conditions permit, be completed at approximately 4 p.m. Smoke may be visible in the evening and early Wednesday morning in Crouch and Garden Valley, Idaho.

Also, on Wednesday, May 4th, the Cascade Ranger District plans to ignite approximately 178 acres in the Horsethief Project prescribed fire area. Ignition will start around 11:00 a.m. or when conditions permit. The burn is a combination of aerial and hand ignition and located off of National Forest System road 433,approximately 3 miles northeast of Horsethief Reservoir in Valley County (T14N, R5E, Sec 20/21 (44˚ 32’ 09.28” X 115˚ 52’ 07.99”). Smoke may be visible in the evening and early Thursday morning from Horsethief Reservoir, the YMCA Camp and Warm Lake area.
