Rocky Canyon Prescribed Burn

Emmett Ranger District plans to ignite 2000 acres on Friday April 10 as part of the Rocky Canyon Restoration burn.

The area to be ignited is bordered on the south end near Rocky Canyon Creek and on the north end near Rattlesnake Campground.   National Forest System road 698 (Middle Fork Payette River road) will remain open during the burn.

Ignition would likely begin around noon and end near 4 PM.  A helicopter will be predominantly used for ignition. Smoke approval has been submitted.

Signs will be posted in the burn areas to notify visitors that burning is in progress.

Smoke may drift down canyon during the night for a few days following ignition, which may be noticed in the Garden Valley/Crouch area.
