Pole Mill Prescribed Fire May Occur Soon

Weiser, ID – The Weiser Ranger District of the Payette National Forest announced that if weather forecasts remain favorable, they could begin the Pole Mill Prescribed Fire anytime during the next couple of weeks. This 1100 acre prescribed fire will be ignited by hand and helicopter in an area northwest of Cambridge, ID/Highway 71 and south of Mill Creek Road.

Roads and trails leading into the burn area will be posted with signs prior to ignition and during implementation. Hunters and other forest visitors should practice good situational awareness in the vicinity of the Pole Mill burn area and carry a forest map with them in case they need to use an alternate route. A map of the prescribed fire location can be obtained at the Council and Weiser Ranger District offices in Weiser and Council Idaho.
