Mountain Home Ranger District Plans Pile Burning Near Bogus Basin

The Boise National Forest Mountain Home Ranger District plans to begin pile burning on 250 acres immediately west of Bogus Basin Ski Resort, if weather conditions permit.

Burning is anticipated to begin November 5th and continue on Friday, November 6th. The activity will resume on November 9th and 10th. No burning will take place during the weekend. Smoke will likely be visible during the pile burning, possibly from Boise.

This forested area, approximately 12 miles northeast of Boise, has been thinned and the limbs, small trees and vegetative debris were piled across the planned 250 acres. The project will help accelerate large tree growth and improve resistance or survivability from insects, disease, and wildfire.
