Lowman Ranger District Plans Weekend Pile Burning

Posted by swidrxfire - October 7, 2011 - Fire Update, News - No Comments

BOISE, ID, – The Lowman Ranger District of the Boise National Forest is planning to ignite two prescribed burns Friday and Saturday if weather permits.  The predicted change for cooler weather allows fire personnel to ignite these burns safely while achieving fire management objectives.

The two projects will consist of burning piles of tree limbs around Deer Flat and Bear Valley campgrounds and around Wapiti Summer Homes on Saturday, pending snow accumulations and smoke approval.

These projects will reduce fuel that could feed an intense wildfire in the hot summer months.

Smoke may be visible for several days after ignition.  Efforts will be taken to mitigate smoke impacts to the public.

No closures are issued in the fire areas.
