Idaho City Ranger District – Alder West Burn Planned

Boise National Forest – Idaho City Ranger District – weather and conditions permitting, is planning to hand ignite the Alder West – Unit #3 (approximately 300 acres within the Alder Ridge Burn) on Thursday, April 16 and Friday, April 17.

The unit is just south of the Alder Ridge area west of the Forest Service road 615 (County road to Garden Valley). The burn is approximately 1.5 miles north of Placerville. The unit is surrounded by roads or hand lines and has road access through the interior of the unit.

Ignition will likely take place around 10:30 a.m. and fire managers plan to have ignitions completed by 4 p.m. each day. Fire managers will monitor the burn through the weekend.
